Life sciences

This research area explores environments for experimental planning and decisions based on biological evidence. The example below illustrates one candidate-selection task.

Research focus

Example task

PredictedObserved

Candidate set

3 synthetic compounds

Selected assay

C-17 binding

Predicted range

80–120 nM IC₅₀

Measured result

96 nM IC₅₀

Synthetic example values. Assay cost: $1,200. Turnaround: 2 days.

Illustrative task record. It does not represent a published evaluation result.

What the task measures.

A model’s predicted range is recorded before the assay. The measured biological result is recorded separately after the assay runs, along with the task’s stated cost and time.

Separating prediction from measurement makes it possible to assess how well a model anticipated an assay result without treating its prediction as experimental evidence.

Discuss life sciences evaluation.

Evaluation engagements are custom. We agree on the task, inputs, outcomes, and scoring before a run begins.
